The upcoming Marvel Legends animated series, which is based on the popular DC Comics character The Flash, is set to launch on Netflix on June 30.
The animated series will follow the exploits of the fictional Flash in the DC Universe, which includes the iconic heroes, villains, and villains from the comic books.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “The Flash is an unlikely hero for an animated show that was inspired by the character.”
According to Netflix, the series will be “based on the classic Flash series.”
In the comics, the Flash is a member of the League of Assassins.
“The story will follow a team of vigilantes who work alongside the Flash, including the young hero Captain Cold and the young Flash’s wife Dinah Drake,” Netflix said in a statement.
The Legends of Tomorrow series will star Jesse L. Martin, David Ramsey, and Rachael Taylor.
The series is based off of the comic book series by writer Geoff Johns, and it will follow two brothers, the former Robin and the former Hawkman, on their quest to find the legendary Atom, who they believe is responsible for the death of their father.
“We’ve been working on this show for years,” showrunner Mark Pedowitz said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.
“It’s the culmination of everything we’ve been trying to do.”
The Legends TV series is one of several Marvel animated series currently in development, including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and The Defenders.
“There are so many amazing creators working on the shows, but this is the first series we’ve decided to bring on board,” Pedowitz told The Wall Street Journo, noting that the series has been in development for “quite some time.”
“I think the opportunity is fantastic and it really fits our universe,” he added.
“I can’t wait to tell all the great stories that will unfold with this series.”
Pedowitz is a former executive producer on The Flash TV series.
