Legendary sports broadcaster Ricky Gevins is now the youngest person to hold the record for being the youngest winner of the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award.
Gevins, 26, became the youngest MVP winner on Thursday when he beat Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James and the Detroit Pistons’ Reggie Jackson to earn the honor of being the league’s youngest winner.
He also became the first NBA player to win a second MVP award after the 2016 NBA Finals, and became the second player to score 20,000 points and average at least 25.0 points per game in a season after reaching the 20,300 mark last year.
Gervais’ record-breaking performance will become the first of five consecutive NBA MVP awards, and will become Gevis record for a player to reach the milestone in a single season.
He will be joined by five other NBA champions, including LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, Michael Jordan and LeBron James’ brother Kevin.
