A skinny legend album from Ozzy and John Legend has won the backing of the RCA and the Copyright Office, the Recording Industry Association of America.
The RIAAC announced Friday that it approved the album, titled Skinny Legend, on behalf of John Legend.
The album will be released on June 17 via Epic Records and available for preorder now.
RIAAA Chairman Jim Cramer said the RAA is pleased to hear that John Legend will be the lead singer on this album, which he said is a collaboration between the two superstars.
“John Legend is one of the greatest songwriters in history and the collaboration he has with Ozzy on this project is truly a wonderful one,” Cramer told Billboard.
“John Legend and I have a long history together and the project reflects that.
We are thrilled to welcome Ozzy to the R&A family and are excited about the possibilities it presents.”
John Legend will perform the album’s lead single, “The Way You Used to Do.”
John Legend is the producer on the album.
The song, written and produced by John Legend, will be featured on the record.
John Legend has also been nominated for a Grammy award for his work on the classic 1980s song “The Beatles” and was nominated for the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 2015 for his “I Am The Walrus” album.
Ozzy Osbournes songwriting credits include the hit song “Wicked,” and the hit “Smells Like Teen Spirit” for his band, Ozzy, Osbourne, Osbourne, and Osbourne-Phelps.

The “Skinny Legacy” album is the latest effort from John Legend that is part of his “Skinner-Lords” label.
The album includes the single “Rock and Roll,” which John Legend recorded himself.
The songs are a collaboration of John legend and Ozzie, Jr.
The albums release comes as John Legend’s longtime producer, Jim Cahn, announced on his radio show that he is collaborating with John Legend on the studio album.
Cahn, who worked with John legend for a number of years, said the project is a tribute to Ozzy.
John legend, who was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, recently signed with Epic Records.

John and his management team, the company said, are currently working with Epic to secure a deal with a major label to release the album on a major U.K. and U.Y.A. radio station.
