NEW YORK — Pirellis have confirmed the next generation of its Supercars series will be the world’s fastest, with the FIA Supercars Championship’s reigning champion in the works for the first time.
A source close to Pirello revealed that the next-generation Pirella GT4 will have a top speed of 1,050 km/h and a top-gear torque of 400 Nm (380 lb-ft).
The new car will also have the new-for-2017-spec V-twin engine that Pirels are set to be using this year, and will be powered by the new 4.4-liter twin turbo V8 engine that has been fitted to every Pirelly GT4 car in the championship.
“The Supercar of 2017 is now here,” said the source.
“With the V-Twin engine in the GT4, Pirelis will be able to compete with the best of the best in the class.”
