The Legend of Dragoon, the first of a new generation of games that would rival the first Tomb Raider, is now worth more than the games that preceded it, according to data from the game’s developers at Square Enix.
The game is the first game to ever earn a $2 billion price tag from Square Enix, and its success has sparked comparisons to its predecessor.
But the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend for Xbox One are more likely to be remembered for their lofty sales figures.
While Breath of a Wild, the third of a four-part series that began with Zelda: The Wind Waker, sold a staggering $2,821 million, its predecessor, The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword, sold $2 million more than it did.
The Legend will also be remembered as the first entry in the series to earn a major sequel, Breath of The Wild: The Legend Within, which sold $1.3 billion.
That game has since surpassed Breath of Fire and Zelda: Twilight Princess to become the most successful Zelda title.
The most recent installment in the Legend series, Breath Of The Wild 2, also sold $664 million.
Its predecessor sold $4.3 million more, the data show.
The Zelda franchise has sold more than $2 trillion worldwide since it was released in 1991.
